If you want to be successful in anything, you must be willing to do the work consistently. This was the best lesson I could have ever learned because before learning it, I was all over the place and it showed. People do business with those they know, like, and trust. If you want your business to earn money, you must know and understand this. The way that people get to know you, decide that they like you, and believe that you can be trusted is by you consistently showing up as your best self every day. You can’t expect consistent income if you’re inconsistently working or working ineffectively. What I tell all aspiring and new entrepreneurs is to choose 1-2 things that they can consistently do and deliver with excellence. Many people fail because they take on too many things at once and never completely master any of them. I know all too well because I was also guilty of this. I kept creating and trying a bunch of different things because none of them were producing the results I wanted. What I didn’t realize was that I wasn’t receiving the results I wanted because I had not yet attempted to put my energy into just one thing that I was really passionate about. It’s much harder to be consistent when doing things that you really aren’t invested in. Once I eliminated all of the random things I was doing and got focused on the few things that I really wanted to earn an income doing, I finally received the results I had been chasing.
Whatever you choose to do, it is important that you make sure that you do it consistently or you’ll likely be wasting your time. Just think of it like this, how many businesses have you stopped frequenting because you could not depend on them to offer the same prices, services, or quality every time you visited? How many people have you stopped dealing with because you were afraid of what they might do next? Before people spend their hard-earned money with you, they want to know that you are who you say you are and that they can trust you to deliver what you say you will deliver. Going from inconsistent to consistent will improve how people perceive you and increase the size of your bank account.
Assignment: What areas of your business are your struggling with? Could lack of consistency be a factor. Make a list of the top 3 goals you want to reach in your business. Now, determine the operations that affect you reaching those goals and create a plan to consistently and effectively perform them.
