You can’t expect to get further than you are now without learning more than you know now. The world, especially the business world, is ever-changing. From technology to trends, it is a must that you keep yourself educated on what’s happening in your industry. Every time I feel stuck or like I’ve gone as far as I can go based on what I know, I pick up a book and start reading. As an entrepreneur, you spend so much time catering to others’ needs so it’s important for you to make time to pour into yourself.
Not only do you need to continue increasing your knowledge so that you remain in a position to win, you also need to feed your spirit motivation and inspiration to keep going. The more you know, the more you grow. It’s true, knowledge is power. The more knowledge you have, the more strategic you can be with your moves. If you work smart, you won’t have to work as hard. Just think about the people who have transformed tasks that used to take days or weeks into hours because they used their brain. It likely took them years to learn how to do it, but once they figured it out, they invented something that allowed them to be financially set for life. The only difference between you and them is their decision to keep learning.
Trust me, I know that this is easier said than done sometimes because society has made us lazy. Many people sadly don’t want to read more than a few sentences, let alone an entire book on something that is not entertaining. Many people stop furthering their education after high school or receiving a college degree. Too many are more interested in keeping up with sports, reality tv, and social media and none of it is helping to move their lives or careers forward. I really want to encourage you not to be one of those people. The Oprah’s and Michelle Obama’s of the world didn’t become intelligent and successful by accident or coincidence and neither will you. Invest in your continued education. Read books, attend workshops, take online courses, watch educational documentaries. Dedicate a portion of each day to do something that is going to make you smarter than the day prior. Start today and see how different your life looks a year from now. I guarantee that you’ll be a better and more successful person because of it.
